I am reading a book by Dr. Henry Cloud called the Secret things of God. Not really a secret if you are reading the Bible, however. What I love about his writing is that he acknowledges and gives examples of psychological practices that God ordained from the beginning of time. If we heeded God's word we would know how precious we are; how we are to treat our fellowman and what to do in times of distress and trouble.
He talks about the 3 Ps that lead to depression, in the negative ways that we interpret the bad things that happen to us in the world.
Personal explanations: taking a bad experience and internalizing it to mean something bad about yourself, rather than just a bad experience. For example today I was distributing flyer's to promote an ESL class I will be part of in April. Some places did not what them. Well, they just didn't want them that's all. It doesn't mean I suck at selling the idea of ESL classes or that I am a failure at things in general.
God says we should take captive these thoughts and submit them to Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5.
Replace those thoughts with these instead;
Romans 8: 31-39 So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn't hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn't gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God's chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ's love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture: They kill us in cold blood because they hate you. Jesus loves us. I'm absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.
He loves us, He choose to die for us, He doesn't think we are worthless or losers. Amen
Rhonda Bryne's book the Secret misleads people to believe that their thought control the world. Although our thoughts about ourselves are powerful affecting our outlook and actions, they start and end with us. We cannot control the world or those around us, only God can.

Knitting
I have returned to knitting and really enjoying it. I am taking some classes at a local store and learning some new things. One of the best parts is meeting new people. It is wonderful to be in a community no matter what it is. God is so right that we are made for community, the Greek word Konania. Everyone different but adding colours and flavours that we alone to not have to make the world a wonderful place.
I also took up snowshoeing and it is fun, I like it better than X-Cr skiing, because there is no wax to worry about. Sadly there is a great lack of snowfall so I have only gone a few times.
My Dad suffers from chronic depression and this time of year is so hard for him. He did get himself a SAD Light and it is helping some. He sees a psychiatrist and a nurse therapist which helps. There is so much help there if you seek it. It is not by accident or chance that I ended up being a psych. nurse. I know that I need to work on being more patient with him.
It seems clear that King David suffered from depression he saught God's help. His words give comfort and hope that God knows, he hears. Psalm 42:5 & 11 says;
Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed with in me?
Put your hope in God, for yet will I praise him,
my Savior and my God.

I'm back
Well, I don't know what happened, do you?
I went back to school and them rather dropped off the web. I am now a TESL teacher. That was tough going back to school at my age. It will be even tougher working! Thank you so much to those who were faithfully praying for me. you made a big difference and pulled me through ( ended up with 96%)
I am back knitting and plan to take some classes to work on tecniques that have become latent and learn new ones. Knitting lace socks and aome gauntlets.
Plans for the wedding are progressing and now my dress shopping must start.
I am doing a Beth Moore study on the friut of the spirit. WOW it is blessing, the videos have spoken to many in our group.

Summer activities
Wow, I know it has been along time since I wrote. I have been so busy outdoors. Golfing, hiking, camping. I have done some amazing hikes, what a beautiful world our God has made!! My Mom, 71 yrs, came hiking and camping with me for a few days. We hiked up to the Tea house at Lake Louise and did the whole Sunshine circuit. She did awesome! and I am so proud of her!
There is still so much I want to do this summer before fall programs start up. Hikes and camping that are calling my name.
My most recent hike was to Rockbound Lake beside Castle Mountain.........breathtaking!!
My ladies hiking group also did "Hailstorm Butte which was equally breath-taking. I will get pictures up when I have time.
The Brad Jersak Book, "Can You Hear Me" has been a steep curve. There is so much in each chapter that I have had trouble taking it all in. I have included a website that talks about imaginative prayer, that you can try out. That is just the tip of the ice burg when it comes to hearing God. I will post Jersak's site for you to check out as well.
God is speaking to us all the time. Don't you long to hear all he has to say.
