I decided to forward this site to you because I think it is so very important. You may not watch Oprah, and so do not know she is promoting a New Age Religion disguised as Christian based. But perhaps like me you have friends who do and have joined her on-line study of Eckhart Tolle's book "A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose". This link leads to a Christian discussion of the direction of this book and Oprah, pantheism, not Christianity. God is in us and in all things, so in fact we can become god by following certain practices. Christianity in no way says god is us, he is a separate being, as are the Holy Spirit and Jesus. The Holy Spirit lives within us as a teacher and guide.
Tolle does not talk about sin, therefore there is no need for Jesus and nothing for us to be saved from because, we can be god.
It is sad to see Oprah used this way and all of us can be deceived to follow this path, God is very clear about us being sheep. It is so slippery to say that tolerance is of prime importance when there are many things in this world as Christians we must be intolerant of, all kinds of sin and evil. Perhaps what we should be the most intolerant of is deceptions that lead people to an eternity of separation from God and his love. Love the lost, fight the teaching that leads them there.

Free to be happy

Dr Cloud says we choose to be slaves to things that make us unhappy. What you say! Why would we choose to be unhappy?.....One, we love the object of our slavery more than we will admit and two we won't be obedient to walk away from it! For me its food, WOW so many things I love I just won't walk away from even though they cause me to gain weight...choice...unhappy...slavery....
What about you? a relationship...approval...control by others...status...money...
Well what to do? If you can't just stop it alone, admit you need help. Ask God, ask others.
Then, the soul search..Why, what is the need behind it, what I am I trading, what am i covering up?
CHOOSE LIFE you are not alone

I am trying to loose weight for the upcoming wedding and it is going slowly. I get stuck at a certain number and then I give into the slavery. I need freedom from loving the wrong things.
1 Corinthians 10:13 God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out to that you can endure.

Knitting some gauntlets and a lace shawl (A Year of Lace, my knitting group). Just finished a baby sweater. Snowshoeing with friends in Peter Lougheed, lovely. ESL Conversation and more Cafe starting up with a friend in Kensington in April. Lots of lesson plan to make up for 6 weeks of classes. Remodelling of the bathroom to begin next week. Wedding plans ongoing.

The Real Secret

I am reading a book by Dr. Henry Cloud called the Secret things of God. Not really a secret if you are reading the Bible, however. What I love about his writing is that he acknowledges and gives examples of psychological practices that God ordained from the beginning of time. If we heeded God's word we would know how precious we are; how we are to treat our fellowman and what to do in times of distress and trouble.

He talks about the 3 Ps that lead to depression, in the negative ways that we interpret the bad things that happen to us in the world.
Personal explanations: taking a bad experience and internalizing it to mean something bad about yourself, rather than just a bad experience. For example today I was distributing flyer's to promote an ESL class I will be part of in April. Some places did not what them. Well, they just didn't want them that's all. It doesn't mean I suck at selling the idea of ESL classes or that I am a failure at things in general.

God says we should take captive these thoughts and submit them to Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5.

Replace those thoughts with these instead;

Romans 8: 31-39 So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn't hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn't gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God's chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ's love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture: They kill us in cold blood because they hate you. Jesus loves us. I'm absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.

He loves us, He choose to die for us, He doesn't think we are worthless or losers. Amen



Rhonda Bryne's book the Secret misleads people to believe that their thought control the world. Although our thoughts about ourselves are powerful affecting our outlook and actions, they start and end with us. We cannot control the world or those around us, only God can.

Knitting

I have returned to knitting and really enjoying it. I am taking some classes at a local store and learning some new things. One of the best parts is meeting new people. It is wonderful to be in a community no matter what it is. God is so right that we are made for community, the Greek word Konania. Everyone different but adding colours and flavours that we alone to not have to make the world a wonderful place.
I also took up snowshoeing and it is fun, I like it better than X-Cr skiing, because there is no wax to worry about. Sadly there is a great lack of snowfall so I have only gone a few times.
My Dad suffers from chronic depression and this time of year is so hard for him. He did get himself a SAD Light and it is helping some. He sees a psychiatrist and a nurse therapist which helps. There is so much help there if you seek it. It is not by accident or chance that I ended up being a psych. nurse. I know that I need to work on being more patient with him.
It seems clear that King David suffered from depression he saught God's help. His words give comfort and hope that God knows, he hears. Psalm 42:5 & 11 says;
Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed with in me?
Put your hope in God, for yet will I praise him,
my Savior and my God.

I'm back

Well, I don't know what happened, do you?

I went back to school and them rather dropped off the web. I am now a TESL teacher. That was tough going back to school at my age. It will be even tougher working! Thank you so much to those who were faithfully praying for me. you made a big difference and pulled me through ( ended up with 96%)

I am back knitting and plan to take some classes to work on tecniques that have become latent and learn new ones. Knitting lace socks and aome gauntlets.

Plans for the wedding are progressing and now my dress shopping must start.

I am doing a Beth Moore study on the friut of the spirit. WOW it is blessing, the videos have spoken to many in our group.

I went snowshoeing for the first time, the snow was pristine, shinning.
